The Project Brief
The client was looking for a magazine style site that had a distinctive fun and informal feel to inspire and motivate their readers.
As a start-up they required a full solution on brand design, including colours, logo and style.
They were also looking for a website that was easy to maintain and that could be update by them. They wanted stories and news to sit in categories that displayed within appropriate sections once published. They also wanted the site to grow with them and for it to be easy to add functionality as time passed.
Client
A fun lifestyle site designed to act as a one-stop portal for feel-good stories across the Internet.
The Solution
We proposed a simple WordPress website, loosely based on the format of the best responsive magazine and newspaper websites. Some inspiration was taken from the then recently launched Guardian responsive website.
We built them a template driven site, that was fully styled and allowed for easy publishing of different styles of pages with content, images and copy able to be switched around dependant on the layout chosen.
The site overall had a category structure, which meant articles could be easily populated in different areas by use of tags. All articles are time / date stamped and have the author as attributes, meaning that a reader could view all articles by a certain author, or the site can display articles by most recently published.
We also produced various different logo design and colour options which aimed to balance a desire by the client to create a positive vibe without being overly sentimental. The chosen designs appear on the website.

The site was designed, coded and built. After running the site for a while it was mothballed by the client, but can be viewed as an example of the project work carried out by Insite Web.
